MindHealth also uses Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as a technique to treat Depression and in particular as a highly effective form of relapse prevention.

• Mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, focus on becoming aware of all incoming thoughts and feelings and accepting them, rather reacting to them. 


• MBCT works on the premis that when those suffering from depression become distressed, they return to automatic thought processes that can trigger a depressive episode. MBCT helps to interrupt these automatic patterns of thought and helps clients to focus less on reacting to these triggers, and more on accepting and observing them without judgment. 


• MBCT combines ancient knowledge with current understanding to give clients a set of skills which allow them to manage ongoing difficulties in a more effective.


• The UK National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) has endorsed Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as a highly effective form of Relapse Prevention in the treatment of Depression.
